A Second Chance

"A Second Chance"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

This Screech Owl looks normal from the side view, but he was given a second chance at life thanks to Callaway Gardens.  This bird and many others are part of the Birds of Prey Show at Callaway Gardens.

This owl received a head injury, and the right tuft feathers are missing.  People mistake these feathers as ears.  His ears are on the side of his head.

I found a little info about Callaway Gardens Birds of Prey Show on the internet:

"Callaway Gardens’ Birds of Prey program is presented with the permission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Since its debut in 2000, the program has helped educate more than 1 million visitors about man’s impact on raptors and other forms of wildlife. These magnificent creatures – which cannot be released into the wild, due either to injury or having developed an unnatural association with humans, known as “imprinting” – demonstrate their strength, speed and natural instincts in daily free-flighted shows. Several birds appear at each show, swooping overhead and giving guests an up-close look“on the glove,” while our raptor experts explain how man’s actions affect their wellbeing."

Help!

"Help!"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

This young bear ran up the tree to get away from his sibling.  The sibling waited at the bottom of the tree for a while.  The bear had a hard time getting back down the tree.  Eventually, he figured it out and got down.

New Life

I originally got my husband to stop on the side of the road because I saw a goat on top of a huge hay bale.  The goat jumped off before I could fire a shot, but I was thrilled to find two baby goats (kids) to photograph.  This baby goat still had its umbilical cord attached.

Bath Time!

"Bath Time!"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

While I was on vacation, I watched this chic-a-dee for several days come back to the same chair for a bath.  I was usually sitting on the backporch swing and kept my camera next to me hoping I would get a photo.  It is not a good photo, but it bring back memories....that is what photography is all about, capturing a moment in time:)

This is my neighbor's tree.  She told me this was planted before her daddy died.  She refers to it as "Daddy's tree."

More Seeds Please!

"More Seeds Please!"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I watched this chipmunk for a while as he scurried around below a bird feeder looking for sunflower seeds.  He would go beneath the leaves and pop his head up every once in a while.  After loading his cheeks with seeds, he would run across the street, down a dead tree, on a tree stump, then into his hole to deposit his goods.  He repeated this several times.  The feeders at the Botanical Garden are running very low on seeds, so he says, "More seeds please!"

A Visitor

We have a neighborhood cat that comes to our house once in a while for a visit.  My daughter and I played with her in the front yard.  She is a pretty cat, and her kitten is pretty too:)

Today was National wear red day to support the fight against heart disease in women!   Ginger says, "Go Red for women's heart disease!" She sported her red & white cheerleading outfit today....pom poms too!

Back in November, while there was still fall color, I set out within the tiny world of my neighborhood to capture nature's beautiful colors.
