Ma, This Christmas Tree!

“Ma, This Christmas Tree!”

Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Cubs are so cute to observe as they explore their new environment. This cub was no exception.

He first used his sense of smell and inhaled the aroma of the fir needles. He began to play with the branch, then became unstable and slipped off the log onto the forest floor.

Christmas is far away, but he wanted to pick out the Christmas tree early.

Nominations Open

“Nominations Open”

Once again, I am releasing monarch butterflies in memory or honor of a loved one. I don’t have many yet. Please read all:)

Last year I released about 50 butterflies in honor/memory of loved ones. I also let some children name the butterflies and then release them. It brought me immense pleasure! It brings me joy knowing it brings joy to others. I have also enjoyed hearing your comments of joy because of the release:)

If you have a friend or family member who would like a butterfly released in memory or honor of a loved one, please reach out to them and ask them if they would like one released. If you or they would like a butterfly release, please visit my Facebook photography page and look for the above photo and leave your request there.

I am also posting this on my other social media platforms. To be fair, I will go in order they are requested unless there is a specific date that coincides best with the release of that butterfly.

****There is one exception. If you have already had one released, I will let the new people go before you:)****

I will try to take a cellphone photo or video of the release if I can. The butterflies don’t always cooperate. I will inform you when I post your special butterfly.

Raising Monarch Butterflies Paid Off!

"Raising Monarch Butterflies Paid Off!"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

My work raising and tagging monarch butterflies paid off!
I was curious if any of my monarchs that I have tagged have been recovered. Today, I checked Monarch Watch's sight and one of mine was! I was excited to say the least.
I released a female monarch at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia on October 5, 2020. It was spotted in Marietta, Georgia on October 8th.
She flew about 70 miles in three days. A man named James sent in the report and commented she was a strong, vibrant colored specimen.
If you see a monarch early in the season or late in the season, check to see if it has a tag and report your findings to Monarch Watch.
This photo is not a photo of her. Actually it is a male. I just wanted to include a photo of a butterfly I raised.
