The Three Amigos

“The Three Amigos”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

A long wooden walkway meanders through the rookery at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park in Florida. At the end of the boardwalk was a great egret nest.

I was mesmerized as I watched three chicks in the nest. The little guys can be fierce with each other. I don’t like thinking about the dominant chicks and how they can end up stabbing the little ones to death.

Most of my time photographing was spent at this nest. I probably could have stood there all day, but I wanted to also photograph the spoonbill nest.

I can’t wait to go back!!

In the Beginning

“In the Beginning”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

This photograph shows the beginning stages of the Super Blood Wolf Moon of 2019.

What I love about this image is seeing the Tycho crater around the 4 o'clock position. Long white streaks protrude from the crater.

Did you know it is 52 miles wide with the surrounding cliff faces higher than the Grand Canyon? What is so amazing is it is almost 3 miles deep.

This cater can’t hold a candle to the South Pole-Aitken basin which is on the far side of the moon. It is about 1,550 miles across and more than 5 miles deep.

Super Blood Wolf Moon of 2019

“Super Blood Wolf Moon of 2019”

I wasn’t planning on photographing all the phases of the total lunar eclipse of 2019, but I withstood the cold weather gladly as I watched the amazing spectacle.

As the events unfolded I said, “Gosh Lord, your nature is so amazing!” He can be seen so clearly in His nature, and He shows Himself to me this way all the time!

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature —have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:20

A Gaze

“A Gaze”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I love looking at an animal in their eyes. There is just something to it.

I photographed this white-tailed deer in Cades Cove, Tennessee on the first day of spring. I figured if I posted snow photographs that maybe, just maybe the snow will come that is forecasted for next week.

Fingers are crossed! Let it snow!!

Let it Snow!

“Let it Snow!”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I photographed this snowman in Cades Cove, Tennessee on the first day of spring last year. I figured if I posted snow photographs that maybe, just maybe the snow will come that is forecasted for next week.

We don’t get snow that often in Athens, Georgia, and I may have to drive farther north to photograph it. Fingers are crossed! Let it snow!!

Inquisitive

“Inquisitive”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

While I was in Columbia at the Aviario Nacional de Colombia, this collared aracari was inquisitive and kept an eye on us. Our guide figured I wasn’t ready to leave and let us go at our own pace. After the group left, and we had the birds all to ourselves.

He did not mind me photographing him. I kind of wonder what this little guy is thinking.

Looking Forward to 2019

“Looking Forward to 2019”
Cuban Bullfrog – juvenile

While on Grand Cayman, we hired the nicest guide, Geddes Hislop, who took us birding. Look him up if you want to see some great birds on Cayman!

I have some beautiful shots of the birds on Cayman, but I am also glad he showed us many other subjects to photograph as well.

While we were at the Botanic Park, I was photographing a flower when I noticed this Cuban bullfrog trying to take a nap in the safety of the flower’s petals.

It took forever to get the final image I wanted. The top petal, which was folded on top of him, kept falling down when I lifted it. He was probably terrified!

I am very thankful for what the Lord shows me or brings to me. I can’t wait to see what He has in store!

Looking Back to 2018

“Looking Back to 2018”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I am thankful for the amazing wildlife and landscapes I captured in 2018! I am glad I got to travel to different countries and photograph the nature there —I’m ready to go back!

Even though black bears still have edged out hummingbirds as my favorite subject to photograph, this year, monarch butterflies have tied for second place with the hummingbirds. I am so passionate about them because of the loving care I took in raising them. I watched their transformation before my eyes. One minute they were caterpillars, the next they were amazing butterflies. God’s nature is so incredible!!

On a personal note, it was a rough year with a lot of pain. It took almost 6 months to get rid of my lockjaw, and I am going on two months of nerve pain shooting down my arm for carrying my heavy gear and another bag.

It is getting better, and I am looking forward to a healthy near year!
