The baby goat is checkin' out his new world as he peers out over the lake.  The umbilical cord can still be seen.

A Pillow Of Water

"A Pillow Of Water"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

My husband and I headed to the mountains for me to photograph the fall colors.  We went to two waterfalls before we headed to Tallulah Gorge State Park.

The park was packed.  We asked what was going on and were told today was the first of several water release dates.  Normally, there is 35-40 cubic feet per second flowing through the gorge.  Today, there were 500 CFS!  Kayakers have the dates saved on their calendars and come out to enjoy the great rapids.

My agenda quickly changed.  How many times will I be able to photograph world class kayakers going over a class five rapid?  I set up my tripod and watched as the kayakers hit the huge wall of water and totally disappeared.....kayak and all.

I love this photograph because it looks like the kayaker is hugging a pillow of water.

Mirror Image

I love when I am able to capture a photograph where the reflection in the water is a mirror image of the subject.

Hide-n-seek

"Hide-n-seek"

I went to Sandy Creek Park in Athens, Georgia to hopefully take photos of what's left of the fall colors.  I was hoping I'd photograph a Great Blue Heron I saw before too.  I went around the lake, and as I was taking photos of a tree, a heard the heron's call.  He flew past me, and I quickly ran in that direction.  I accidently flushed him out because I did not see him until it was too late.

He flew up high in a pine tree and stayed there forever.  I wasn't getting any good shots where I was, so I started meandering around the lake.  I knew I was getting close to the tree, and when I looked up, he was right in front of me.

I think it is neat you can see his other claw sticking out from under his feathers.

Menacing

Does the title come from the those "menacing" red eyes or the "menacing" photographer taking its photograph.

Tattered

My dad told me about a Spoonbill nest, and I wanted to find it.  I did not know quite where it was, so I stopped and asked around.  I came across several feral cats outside a business.  The owners were feeding them, but they were still very skittish.  This one did not seem to mind that I was taking his photograph.

UH-OH!

"UH-OH!"

Chipmunks run back and forth across my front steps. I saw them twice, so I decided to get my camera and set it up where they cross the steps.

I heard this little fellow coming and when he hopped onto the step, I took his photo

He then proceeded to spit out one acorn then another and dashed off to safety

He left behind the acorns but later came back to get them!

The story told in a triptych.
