I met Buster while I was at The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina.  In the Antler Hill Village, there is a farm which has goats, roosters, and a few horses.  A sweet lady that worked there told me the names of some of the animals.

I enjoyed my photo shoot at The Biltmore Estate on Friday.  The water lilies were one of my favorite things to photograph.

I love finding birds that have been tagged through the North American Bird Banding Program.  Last month while I was on St. Simons Island, Georgia, I found this Brown pelican on the pier.  When I saw the pelican had a band, I followed it around taking photographs of the band around its foot.

I photograph all around the bird until I get all of the numbers needed to report the bird.  I have found and reported several birds over the years.

On the U.S Geological Survey website, it states:  "Bird banding is used to study the movement, survival, and behavior of birds."  Something I am greatly interested in because birds are my favorite thing to photograph.

They will even send you a certificate telling you neat information about the bird you are reporting.   0938-12206 is of course a Brown pelican and was hatched in 2001.  It was banded on July 2, 2002 in Miami, Florida.  So, it is far way away from home!  The sex of the bird is unknown.

Watch Out!

"Watch Out!"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I went to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia yesterday, and as I was photographing a butterfly on a handrail, I noticed something very small.  Upon closer inspection, I noticed it was a scorpion.

He may look big, but he is less than an inch long while his tail is curled up.

He enjoyed dancing around in circles.  I enjoyed photographing him!

While I was on Daniel Island, South Carolina, I found this Great Blue Heron.  He was in the distance when I first found him, and he walked very close to my camera!  Love when that happens!!

If you have watched a Willet, you would know they appear to be in a state of stupor as they are crazily wandering around looking for fish.  I enjoyed watching him jerk around from side to side and run in circles, but it sure made it hard to focus on him!

I enjoyed watching this baby chipmunk explore his new world.  He did not venture far off from his home.

I really don't know what he is doing to the leaf.  At first he nibbled on it, then in the top photo he was pressing his foot on it.
