When I saw the weather radar yesterday show the snow coming, I knew just where I was headed….to Memorial Park and the State Botanical Garden of Georgia to shoot. I captured some neat photos at both places, but one of my favorites is this goose looking up to the sky as to say, "What's this?"

In February, I went to Memorial Park to photograph the birds in the snow. It only snowed a little, but I was excited to photograph the geese with the snow coming down in the background. I photographed this little fellow while I was waiting.

I found this King Fisher at Memorial Park and was very excited! I have only had one other occasion to photograph a King Fisher, and I was too far away to get a good shot.

The King Fisher reminded me of a tendency hummingbirds have.....perching on favorite branches. He had two branches that he perched on regularly. When I walked up, he was on this branch. I did not see him and scared him, so he flew to his other favorite branch.

It then became follow the leader. He was the leader….I was the follower. He left this branch, but I knew he was coming back, and I waited for him.

I was finishing up shooting at Memorial Park by photographing a duck tending to her nest when I noticed something moving into my frame.  I very quickly changed my focus to the Great Blue Heron the Lord sent my way!

He slowly walked past me and after taking some shots, I got up and followed him.  He slowly meandered along the banks of the small lake with me in tow.  He was a young heron and did not seem bothered by my presence.

Idiosyncrasies

Not to fret when you're getting ready to take a photo of a dragonfly and he flies away; he will prabably come right back.  They are funny creatures like the hummingbirds which come back to the same branch.  I guess I would say they have the same idiosyncrasies?
