An Unexpected Visitor

"An Unexpected Visitor"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography
I was finishing up shooting at Memorial Park by photographing a duck tending to her nest when I noticed something moving into my frame.  I very quickly changed my focus to the Great Blue Heron the Lord sent my way!
He slowly walked past me and after taking some shots, I got up and followed him.  He slowly meandered along the banks of the small lake with me in tow.  He was a young heron and did not seem bothered by my presence.

Man's Best Friend

"Man's Best Friend"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

People talk about a dog being man's best friend.  I think it is a neat relationship.  I normally don't "shoot" people, but I had to snap this shot.  I said to myself, "Just take the shot."

I love how I captured the dog's tongue sticking out as though the dog was wanting to kiss the lady.  The neat thing about this photo is the dog "Dixie" does not belong to the lady.

While I was shooting a waterfall, I noticed this cute dog and asked the owner if I could photograph his dog.  I noticed Dixie on top of a rock with the scenic waterfall in the background, but the lady would not stop petting the man's dog.  So, I took the shot I had!

Amongst The Beauty

One of the things I really enjoyed about my last trip to the Biltmore House was photographing the birds.  I really did not have the lens I wanted to photograph the flowers, but I had my favorite zoom lens!

A Close Call

"A Close Call"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

It was a "close call" for two fawns bedding in my backyard Saturday.

I was photographing two fawns and their mother through my open window in the basement.

The mother kept staring at the empty lot next to our house.  I thought she would have heard me taking photographs of her, but I did not seem to bother her.

Soon both of the fawns were also on alert.  The next thing I knew, the mother deer was flying towards me very quickly.  I still did not know what was going on, so I just photographed what I was seeing.

She was chasing the coyote away from her babies.  I love the baby fawn in the background.  It is as if he is saying, "Get em' Mom!"   I wish the photograph would be more in focus.

I asked my son to help me recreate the shot because I wanted to know how large the coyote was.  We placed a yard stick against the tree and took the exact shot.  The tall part of the coyote's back is about 18" tall.

I am the fourth person that has seen the coyote.  We live within the city limits, and this coyote is a threat to my dog and other dogs in our neighborhood who don't have fences.  I am making phone calls to see what can be done.

Luckily my neighbor told me the day before I saw the coyote to be careful with my dog.  I went that day to the back property line to see if the could photograph the coyote to no avail.  How blessed I was that the Lord brought me another divine appointment!

I could share a lot more photos from the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk but these are my final picks.  I hope you have enjoyed the slight detour this week.

In this photo, I placed a stuffed Uga in the dog house.  Georgia's real mascot Uga has it made.....with an air conditioner in his dog house.

Marking My Turf

"Marking My Turf"

Normally, I don't deviate from my normal nature photography blog, but I want to share the photographs in which I was honored and privileged to take.  I participated in the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk on October 5, 2013, and we were allowed to photograph inside Sanford Stadium.  Forty-two photographers were graciously given two hours to photograph inside an empty Sanford Stadium.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity.  I began to think about what I wanted to photograph and brought along several props that my mother-in-law let me borrow.  I had to repaint Uga's red shirt because it was chipped.

These photos were taken of Uga in the end zone.  These are some of my favorite photographs.  I will include others throughout this week.  GO DAWGS!!!!

The Gulf Fritillary caterpillars have been having hanging around on the plants at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia recently.  But now, they have been transformed into beautiful butterflies......free to fly around the garden.
