Easter is upon us, and it conjures many thoughts and emotions. Children look forward to the Easter bunny bringing a basket full of goodies, while others may take a different slant. 

I personally love Easter because it reminds me of what my Lord and Savior did for me on the cross. Yes, He died a horrific death, but he rose from the grave three days later. He loves us so much!

It’s not about being a good person, doing the right things, or going to church that will grant you access to Heaven. It is having a personal relationship with Jesus. 

Have you asked Him to be your personal Lord and Savior? If you haven’t, it would be the best decision you will make in your entire life.

That’s what Easter is all about:) 

It’s as simple as ABC. A — Admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23)

B — Believe that Jesus, God’s only son, was born and died on the cross for your sins. (Acts 16:31)

C — Confess and repent of your sins and ask Him to be Lord of your life. (1 John 1:9)

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8

This is the second time Peter Cottontail has blessed me with his presence. Yes, I named him and can identify him by several ticks on his body. He is not timid or scared around humans.

Jesus gave me an hour photoshoot with him. For eight minutes he stood on his hind legs, and for one-and-a-half minutes he cleaned himself!

I am taking a photography class from Tin Man Lee. I tried to incorporate his techniques of shooting and editing in this shot.

I love when wildlife stops moving thinking that I can’t see them. I get it. They do not know my intentions, and by becoming motionless, maybe they will be less easily recognized or detected.

This Eastern cottontail rabbit was in the tall grass and hoped I did not see him. He did not trick me!

I drastically edited this photograph in two different ways. I think I know which one I like best. Which one do you like best the normal edit or the “artsy” one??

Be Vewy, Vewy Quiet!

For some strange reason, when I look at this photograph, it reminds me of Elmer Fudd saying, “Shhh! Be vewy, vewy quiet, I’m hunting wabbits.” There is one exception—I would not hunt rabbits.

This little fellow was not far from my camera, and he felt comfortable enough to walk towards me. It kind of blew me away!

Someone commented on my Facebook photography page that this was probably an Easter bunny from last year that was released after Easter.

Easter is this weekend, and what a perfect time to post my new bunny photos. I did not look for these bunnies; they came to me.

I was on St. Simons Island recently to photograph birds. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed something. Lo and behold, I saw a totally black bunny in the wild. Upon further inspection, I noticed he had a grey friend too.

Forget the birds! How often do you see a beautiful black bunny in the wild? Since he was totally black, I am assuming he was probably domesticated at one time. Both of the bunnies let me photograph them with ease.

The neat part is I did not even pray my normal prayer yet, “Lord, show me or bring to me what you want me to photograph.” This is what the Lord does for me all the time. He amazes me!

The Lord knows my name, and He definitely knows my heart!! Has the Lord done something similar for you?

Desert Cottontail

Yesterday we hiked in the Hueco State Park. We went to climb the unique rock structures there, but photographing wildlife is foremost on my mind. 

My husband pointed out a desert cottontail to me, and I followed him around for a bit. Even though they do eat cacti, this rabbit decided to dine on a scrumptious morsel.

I enjoyed my time at Keystone Heritage Park, in El Paso, Texas. I mainly went there to photograph the black-necked stilt, but I will photograph anything that moves in front of my camera.

I walked around the wetlands to see how far I could go. As I passed some brush, I noticed a rabbit that was startled and panicked looked for a place to escape. There was a major problem…...he was on a peninsula surrounded by water except where I was standing. He took a desperate leap right into the water.

I did not know rabbits could swim. He swam to the other side then hopped away!


Wet but happy he got away from me.

I walked up on this little fellow while I was at the Little Mulberry Park in Auburn, Georgia.  He was unconcerned by my presence.  I sat down on the ground to get a low angle. 

 

I would take a few photographs and scoot closer to him.  I repeated this over and over until I was as close as I needed to be.  Then I enjoyed spending time with him while I took photographs:)  I love photographing wildlife!

Through the glass of my lens, I get the neat opportunity to observe wildlife.  I use my telephoto lens, so I get an up close view of them.  God's creatures are so unique and amazing, and I love spending time outdoors watching them.

Meet Lucky a wild baby rabbit.  My neighbor showed the rabbit to me as the rabbit was running through his yard. In a blink, a feral, neighbor cat took off after him.  I was yelling at the cat as I chased him in my bedroom shoes, and the cat was chasing the rabbit. 

 

The rabbit hopped in a neighbor's heavy wooded, empty lot, and the cat pursued.  As I was running towards the lot, I could not see if the cat got the rabbit.  I peered through the brush and saw the rabbit in the cat's mouth.  I stomped my foot and yelled at the cat, and he dropped the rabbit.

 

 

I dug through the brush not knowing the state the rabbit would be in.  I saw him laying on the ground, and I picked him up.  There was a 3 inch cut through the rabbit's fur exposing his skin.  The opening in the fur was also about 2 inches wide.  He did not appear to have any other injuries.

 

I took the rabbit back to my house, and my husband helped me doctor him up.  We put Neosporin on the opening and pulled the fur back over his skin.  To hold the fur in place, we used a butterfly Band-Aid.  I made up a basket to put him in so we could keep him for a awhile until he seemed better.

 

 

The rabbit's pupils did not seemed dilated, but I knew he was shaken and maybe in shock.  I held him for a while stroking his head and gave him a kiss.  My husband said he appeared to be better, and we should go ahead and let him go.  I wanted to take pictures first.  Just that morning, I as in my backyard looking for the rabbit I saw earlier so I could photograph him.

 

 

I took some pictures with my husband holding him because I knew as soon as we put him down, he would run.  We decided to let him go in the backyard so the cat would not get him.  I set up my tripod and focused where my husband was going to place him.  When he sat the rabbit down, he did not move.  Maybe he was getting his bearings.  The rabbit (which I named Lucky) let me take a lot of pictures before he bolted away.  I could not find where he ran, and hope one day I will see him again!   That is so Jesus, letting that sweet rabbit sit there as I photographed him!
