All Alone

"All Alone"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I went to Little Mulberry Park last weekend and found a bird I have never seen before. I took a photo of the image on the back of my camera and sent it to a friend. He knew what it was—a pied-billed grebe. Isn't he cute?

I felt sorry for the little guy because he was all alone. There were no other of his species to hang around with. We too may feel that way sometimes. Just remember the Lord is right there with you. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."

Autumn Abstracts

"Autumn Abstracts"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography
I decided to posts the abstract reflections I saw in the lake when I photographed the duck I posted on Monday. Even though I am not really an abstract person, they were amazing to look at. My eyes dance all around while looking at the details. I posted my favorite five in the order I like them best. The first photo is my favorite. Enjoy looking:)

On Golden Pond

"On Golden Pond"

I enjoyed photographing this duck at the Little Mulberry Park. I saw the fall reflections in the water…..I just needed a subject. Then I had a little help from above. A duck flew into the air, made a u-turn and landed right in front of the dazzling reflections.

Posing by the Lake

"Posing by the Lake"

I love when wildlife stops for a few minutes to let me photograph them. This Canadian goose was hanging out by the lake at Little Mulberry Park and let me photograph him.

Voilà

"Voilà"

I left my house well before sunrise, so I could drive about an hour away to photograph at Little Mulberry Park.  It is mating season for the Great Blue Heron, and they nest in the tall pine trees there.

I really did not get any great shots at sunrise but followed this heron around the lake.  He flew across the lake to the dock I usually shoot from.  I saw where he landed and quickly walked there.  When I got to the dock, I could not find him.  I quietly walked to both sides of the dock with no luck.  I walked off the dock and took a few steps near the water then voilà he stepped out from around the dock.  It kinda freaked me out a little because he was so close to me standing out in the open.  I did not know what to do, and he did not know what to do either.

My tripod was on my camera, so I slowly brought the camera to my face and took a few photos.  I then quickly zoomed out to get his whole body in the frame.  He turned his head away from me, so I slowly put my tripod on the ground.  He turned back towards me then flew away.  I was happy to get a few shots!

Posed

I wish photographing birds would be this easy all the time.  This female Wood Duck took a few moments to relax and pose for me.

Through The Cracks

"Through The Cracks"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

While I was photographing at Mulberry Park in Dacula, Georgia, I found a pair of Canadian geese swimming near the dock I was standing on.  I laid on my belly to shoot through the gap of the wooden railing and the floor of the dock.  The vignetting on his neck is from the wooden dock, but I like the shot nonetheless.

My Birthday Angel

"My Birthday Angel"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Today is my birthday, so I wanted to get out of the house and go shoot at one of my favorite places, Little Mulberry Park in Dacula, Georgia.

I again asked the Lord to help me photograph what He wanted me to photograph and  bring to me what he wanted me to photograph.  I was photographing two male Mallard ducks at the lake.  I did not know this one was going to fly and after I took a few photographs, I knew I got a few shots.

When I looked in the back of my camera, I thought the photograph was neat.  I photographed my birthday angel.  No, this is not photoshopped.  I don't even own Photoshop!  I just love the Lord's sense of humor!

Happy-go-lucky

"Happy-go-lucky"

I walked up on this little fellow while I was at the Little Mulberry Park in Auburn, Georgia.  He was unconcerned by my presence.  I sat down on the ground to get a low angle.

I would take a few photographs and scoot closer to him.  I repeated this over and over until I was as close as I needed to be.  Then I enjoyed spending time with him while I took photographs:)  I love photographing wildlife!

Wood Duck Runway

 "Wood Duck Runway"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I saw several Wood ducks at the Little Mulberry Park last weekend.  A few of them would fly to the railing on the pier looking for a bite to eat.  This female Wood duck looked like she was on a runway struttin' her stuff.  She would walk all around the railing and walk very close to my camera.  I wondered if I needed a model release.  She was doing such a good job of posing!

Resolute

I enjoyed watching this Green Heron hunt for food while I was at the Little Mulberry Park in Dacula, Georgia.  I was able to get a low point of view by laying on my stomach on a pier at the park.  I put my lens on the boards of the pier's floor and between the first slat of the railing.  My lens barely fit in the small space, but I am glad it did so I could shoot low.

The Big One

"The Big One"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Another photographer and I were so excited to see this Great Blue Heron snag the big one and be there to capture the photograph.

I don't have Photoshop and stitched these two photos together to make it larger.  It's not perfect, but it will do for today.

I love the reflection of the fish in this photograph

In And Out

"In And Out"

This weekend I went to Little Mulberry Park in Auburn, Georgia. I found what I believe is probably a Ruby-crowned Kinglet fluttering in and out of a tree. He did not mind my presence.

When I got home and viewed the photo, I noticed there were a lot of thorns that he dogged with ease. Pretty neat!

Surprise!

"Surprise!"  Click on the photo for a closer view!

I spent my April Fool's Day taking 1,562 photos of birds and nature.  This is a new world record number of photos taken in one day for me.  I had a blast!!

This Wood Duck surprised me because I went quickly to a dock to take photos of Canadian Geese, and two Wood Ducks popped out from under the dock!  What a great surprise!  Made my day:)
