Black Beauty

This past weekend, I attended a photography workshop at Swan Lake in Sumter, South Carolina. I met four other photographers there, and we had an amazing time.

Swan Lake is able to boast they are the only public park in the United States to feature all eight species of swans. It was breathtaking to be able to view the swans and hear their different vocalizations. I can’t wait to go back!

Resolute

Hemlock Falls Trail – Moccasin Creek

For the last four weekends, I have traveled to waterfalls in search of fall color. Because of the drought, there isn’t much water and the leaves look burnt and dull.

I made the best of my trip to Hemlock falls and photographed the shoals. I love hiking, being outside and enjoying nature.

How is the color where you live?

Beauty till the End

"Beauty till the End"

While photographing at the State Botanical Garden yesterday, my eye was drawn to this dying purple coneflower. Even though the flower was almost dead, I saw its beauty—the last glimmer of color screamed for someone to notice—and I did!

Rosy-cheeked Caterpillar

“Rosy-cheeked Caterpillar”

This summer, I found three different caterpillars in my front yard within a few minutes of each other. I decided to place them in various locations to photograph them.

I put this Eastern tiger swallowtail caterpillar on my red salvia to add a pop of color. The red reflecting off the flowers makes the caterpillar look like some sort of a strange teddy bear with rosy cheeks.

Happy Halloween 2016

"Happy Halloween 2016"

I thought this was the perfect photo to post for Halloween. This photo was taken at the Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge a few years ago when my husband and I went hiking.

I love the scarecrow sitting against the pumpkin.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Love Bug

Ginger is the sweetest dog who belongs to my husband’s aunt. I care for Ginger frequently as I am helping his aunt.

I bought Ginger a Halloween costume so I could photograph her. The two hardest parts were picking out the perfect costume and getting her to sit still long enough to photograph her.

My husband helped me. He sat next to her on the rock and held her leash so she wouldn’t run off. Ginger has a lot of energy and does not like sit still.

It was a juggling act! By the time I got her costume ready and walked to my tripod and camera, she would move. After many attempts, she finally let me take a decent shot.

Happy early Halloween!!
