Angel Cub

“Angel Cub”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I had a fun time in Cades Cove, Tennessee this week. One of my favorite shots is this cub. The branch makes him look like he has a halo over his head.

A group of us were standing outside our cars on the Cades Cove Loop Road when a man driving by told my friend there was a bear and her cubs in a tree at the road. We walked around the corner and found Charlotte and her cubs just as he said. She was super close, so we took some photos then backed down the steep hill to give her more room.

Charlotte is a beautiful bear with cinnamon coloring on her head and back. She is much different than the other mama bears.

What an amazing experience!!  Isn’t he adorable?

Clever

Capturing this photo of a snail on a poppy pod was a lot of fun. My friend, Heather and I went to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, and she found many critters for us to photograph.

This snail was a great model. We put him on the pod and waited for him to come out of his shell. Heather said, “Do you want me to use my purple sweater as a background?” What a brilliant idea! You can even se our fingerprints on the pod.

I hope you like it.

I Want Those Cherries Now!

“I Want Those Cherries Now!"

Watching black bears rip through a branch to get to their beloved cherries is a fun sight to see. Their heavy weight can only take them up a brance so far, so they chew through the branch and pull it towards them. The reward for all their hard work—yummy cherries!

New Life

Raising swallowtail and monarch caterpillars was a privilege. Right before my eyes, I witnessed their amazing transformation into a beautiful butterfly.

When a person receives Christ as their Lord and Savior, the transformation is more miraculous! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

As we remember Good Friday and the sacrifice of His death on the cross, remember also He rose from the grave. “He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:6

I'm a little late on this but Happy Easter!

Flowing

“Flowing”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

As we start Easter week, I wanted to post a photograph that depicted a reflection of Jesus.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. His blood ran red, and He died a horrific death. Note the cross in the middle of the poppy with its flowing marks on the right side as though blood flowed down.

The good news is we celebrate Easter because He rose again!

If you don’t know Him personally, that is my prayer for you. I couldn’t do it without Him!

It is as easy as ABC:
A — Admit that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23)
B — Believe that Jesus, God’s only son, was born and died on the cross for your sins. (Acts 16:31)
C — Confess and repent of your sins and ask Him to be Lord of your life. (1 John 1:9)

"Too Big!"

"Too Big!"

I love visiting Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina. I usually spend the day in the Audubon Swamp there.

A great blue heron typically has a nest on a cypress tree in the swamp, so I was eager to see if there was one again.

This year, I only saw one chick. He was very hungry and constantly called to his mom for food. At times, he lulled her to sleep.

She finally gave in and regurgitated a ginormous fish. The chick wrestled with the fish for a long time. He tried and tried, but he could never swallow it.

Finally, she bent down and tugged on the fish that was sticking out of his mouth. He did not want to let go, but mom had her way and took it from him. She knew it needed to brew for a little longer.

He clamped down on her beak trying to get her to release the fish again. After more complaining, she relented.

This time he wasn’t going to let her take it back. He gulped it up right away.
It was funny, seeing the huge fish lodged in his throat. It made him look like he had a very thick neck.
