Sitting Pretty

"Sitting Pretty"

In February, I went to Memorial Park to photograph the birds in the snow. It only snowed a little, but I was excited to photograph the geese with the snow coming down in the background. I photographed this little fellow while I was waiting.

I wasn't even planning on shooting today until I heard it was Earth Day. What a better place to be on Earth Day than the State Botanical Garden of Georgia!

One of the many creatures God made that I had the opportunity to photograph while at the Georgia Aquarium. The sign at the aquarium stated, "This jelly can appear in large groups called 'smacks' from the surface to 656 feet (200m) deep.

Custom Throne

Help wanted.....I need a name for this male hummingbird! Read below and let me know what I should call him:)

This male hummingbird has come back to this same branch for the past few years at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. It is nowhere near the main garden where the lush flowers are. He was in a bit of a surprise when he found out his throne had been pruned. I will be seeing him all summer, so I need a name. What do you think?

Needle in a Haystack

"Needle in a Haystack"

The hummingbirds have been at the State Botanical Garden for two weeks now. I kept hearing them but have not been able to photograph them until today. I saw two today but since the garden is so large it is like trying to find a needle in a haystack!

A Different Side

"A Different Side"

I rarely shoot silhouettes. When I saw this reddish egret on St. Simons Island, Georgia, I liked the bokeh (the out-of-focused areas of a photo) in the water. I knew I could not get close enough to use my flash, so I decided to make it into a black and white silhouette photo.

Lunar Eclipse April 4, 2015

"Lunar Eclipse April 4, 2015"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

While visiting on St. Simons Island, Georgia, I wanted to see the lunar eclipse. I did not do enough research to prepared myself with my camera settings and location to shoot, so I felt I wasn't prepared. I went to bed deciding not to go.

I woke up at 5:17 A.M. and tried to go back to sleep, but all I heard was the noise of the fan. I got up and headed to the pier and met Betsy. The moon was out for a little bit then went behind the clouds. After while, I thought is was not going to come back.

The sun was starting to rise, and I wanted to get sunrise photos. I told Betsy bye and as I was leaving, I got distracted by the beautiful array of colors in the sky by the lighthouse. As I started photographing it, I heard, "Judy!" Betsy was calling me back because the clouds moved away revealing a beautiful eclipsed moon! I was so thankful she did or I would not have photographed the moon!!!!

It's a Boy

"It's a Boy!"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

It's a boy! My first ruby-throated hummingbird came to my house last night. I was so excited! He will be easy to distinguish from the other male hummingbirds—he has a small white marking at the base of his beak.

Let the games begin!!
