Welcome Spring!

“Welcome Spring!”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Sometimes we can’t do things by ourselves, and we need help from others. Such is what happened to me Monday—the first day of spring.

I forgot my tripod, and it was impossible to photograph the tulip and hold my diffuser at the same time. A lady walking by with her daughter and saw my predicament. She asked me, “Do you want me to be a large shadow for you?”

She willingly held my diffuser for me enabling me to capture the shot I wanted. Who can you lend a helping hand to today?

Missing One

"Missing One"

Here is another photo from my shoot with my friend Heather. Since she had her macro lens, she was looking for tiny details and noticed this spider was missing a leg. She was my spotter and constantly found things for me to photograph. What I love about this photo is the bokeh.

A Different Side

"A Different Side"

I rarely shoot silhouettes. When I saw this reddish egret on St. Simons Island, Georgia, I liked the bokeh (the out-of-focused areas of a photo) in the water. I knew I could not get close enough to use my flash, so I decided to make it into a black and white silhouette photo.

Dazzling

"Dazzling"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I love using a large aperature to blur the background; it makes the small subject stand out better in the photo.  I also love the bokeh it produces with the light.  I have never captured the bokeh with a reflection or image of an object in it.  To the right and behind the butterfly, you can see a reflection or image of another flower within the bokeh.  The part that is dazling is not what I was focusing on, but what ended up in the final capture:)
