Exposed

“Exposed”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I thought it was the perfect color on the perfect day to share this photograph of a red tulip. It had been hiding in my files for almost a full year! Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!!

Welcome Spring!

“Welcome Spring!”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Sometimes we can’t do things by ourselves, and we need help from others. Such is what happened to me Monday—the first day of spring.

I forgot my tripod, and it was impossible to photograph the tulip and hold my diffuser at the same time. A lady walking by with her daughter and saw my predicament. She asked me, “Do you want me to be a large shadow for you?”

She willingly held my diffuser for me enabling me to capture the shot I wanted. Who can you lend a helping hand to today?

Underneath

"Underneath"

While at Gibbs Garden in Ball Ground, Georgia this weekend, I had an older couple stop and ask me if they could help while I was photographing a flower. I held my translucent reflector over the tulip to block the harsh sunlight, used another hand to move the background flower out of the way while I pressed the shutter release. It must have looked comical. The couple stated they would have come to help earlier, but he fell asleep in a chair.
The man was intrigued as to why I would have photographed an ugly flower. I told him to come look through my camera because the flower was beautiful. I saw the beauty of the flower and envisioned the final outcome of the shot while he was just looking at the surface.
On the surface, we may look different. We may have a few rough edges and aren't quite so polished, but if we have invited Christ in our hearts, there is something very beautiful we can show to others.

Imperfection

"Imperfection"

I picked out the perfect flower with the perfect background, and while I was editing the photograph, I noticed the imperfection on the front petal.  It looks like the flower has a scar.

I couldn't get close to the flower because it was in a flowerbed.  I don't know that it would have changed my mind if I saw the imperfection anyway.

A Blanket Of Color

"A Blanket Of Color"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I was waiting by the Forsythia to see if I could find any hummingbirds.  While I was waiting, I saw some beautiful tulips next to the Forsythia.  I was torn between keeping on my long lens to hopefully capture a hummingbird shot or putting on my macro to photograph the tulips.  I never saw a hummingbird, but I believe I heard one twice.

So while I was waiting, I photographed the tulips with the Forsythia in the background.  I sort of looked like a three ring circus as I was trying to get the perfect shot.  I did not have a reflector to diffuse the light, so I hung my jacket on my tripod to block the harsh sunlight.  I then laid on the ground under the tripod to photograph the tulip while it was in the shade of my jacket.  I then used a flash to bring back in more light.  I think the beautiful, yellow Forsythia made for the perfect background!

In God Alone

"In God Alone"

"But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind." (NLT, James 1.6)

Peace

I really like the perspective of this photo with the tulip in the background.  When I showed the photo to a friend, she mentioned it was as though God's presence was always looking over us.

"Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.  The Lord be with all of you."  (NIV, Thess. 3.16)
