Drenched

This image is of a white-tailed deer named Brownie in Cades Cove, Tennessee. He is well noted by photographers.

Several of us enjoyed photographing him in January. It was a rainy day. I was bold shooting in the rain because I was protected and so was my gear.

He stopped walking and began to shake the rain that collected on his fur. My shutter speed wasn’t where it needed to be, but I will take what I can get. It is likely that I may not get to capture a photo like this again.

I look forward to getting back to Cades Cove and enjoy seeing the beauty found within.

Daydreamer

Back in 2017 in Cades Cove, Tennessee, a momma bear named Hazel was hanging near the road with her cubs. The cubs enjoyed playing amongst the trees and shrubs. This little one stopped to daydream.

The cubs are out exploring and haven’t had the chance to experience seeing humans. I’m daydreaming when I will get the chance to meet them. What a better way to celebrate Earth Day by thinking about what I love to photograph most—black bears!! I miss you!!

Happy Earth Day 2020!!

Matilda

A female mallard duck takes advantage of the quiet playgrounds amid the coronavirus and lays eggs.

Meet Matilda, a female mallard—my new friend. Since the playgrounds are closed because of the coronavirus, they have become a quiet place of peace and solitude. This serenity attracted Matilda to lay a clutch of about 18 eggs underneath the green stairs next to a red slide.

I asked a worker if he had seen any wildlife. He answered, “There are mainly squirrels and ducks.” He then told me about a duck laying on eggs and directed me to her new home.

I gave her duck food to comfort her and waited till the light was void of the harsh shadows to photograph her.

The last time I visited, she was off the nest preening near her mate. This opportunity let me see her eggs from a distance. I can’t wait to meet all her ducklings!!

She is definitely practicing social distancing and has her house decorated early for Christmas!

Clean Your Paws

This is the second time Peter Cottontail has blessed me with his presence. Yes, I named him and can identify him by several ticks on his body. He is not timid or scared around humans.

Jesus gave me an hour photoshoot with him. For eight minutes he stood on his hind legs, and for one-and-a-half minutes he cleaned himself!

I am taking a photography class from Tin Man Lee. I tried to incorporate his techniques of shooting and editing in this shot.

Remember during this time, to keep your paws clean, stay safe, and I hope you have a blessed Easter!!

Through the Briars

“Through the Briars”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Sometimes we walk through circumstances when we are jabbed from all directions. It’s like walking through a briar patch. We can’t see clearly where we are headed or how things will work out. Somehow, we found our way into the middle of the patch.

But, do you know who can see clearly? The Lord. He has mapped out the path. We just have to take one step at a time.

The Lord is omnipotent and is looking from above. He can clearly see the way out.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

Are you in a briar patch? I am. But I know the Lord is right by my side.
