A Moment Of Rest

"A Moment Of Rest"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I found a new perch for the hummingbirds at The State Botanical Garden of Georgia last week.  Two male humminbirds constantly chased each other away offering little moments of rest.  I camped out with my tripod for a long period of time to catch those moments when they were not chasing each other.

In And Out

"In And Out"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

It is neat how the Lord shows me or brings to me things to photograph.  I went to the Watson Mill Bridge State Park with the APG (Athens Photography Guild) to take pictures of the covered bridge and it's surroundings.  But my favorite shot of the day was this Chic-a-dee.

I first spotted him with a worm in his mouth on a branch and watched him until suddenly he disappeared.  He came out of the knot on this dead tree.  I watched for a very long time as he came in and out of the tree, bringing in food and carrying out things to clean up the nest.

I called a fellow bird lover on the phone (who came on the trip) and told him what I found.  He told me he would be right there.  He and two other people enjoyed watching this little fellow.  He also took some great shots and told me I made his day.  It was also the best thing he had photographed as well.

The male Chic-a-dee also had help from the female.  In this photo, you can see the beak of the one Chic-a-dee reaching out to take the food from the other one.

A Bump In The Road

"A Bump In The Road"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

As we were driving through remote grass and dirt roads of the Altamaha Wildlife Management area, we came upon this little guy.  He did not really look like he was going anywhere.  He was just a bump in the road.  It was a skinny road, but we had enough room to go around him.

Too Cute!

"Too Cute!"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I found a baby chipmunk at the Botanical Garden this week.  I have never seen a baby chipmunk before.  It was tiny and too cute.

I followed him around for a while, and then he went into his first hole.  I set up my camera and waited for him to come out.  He did this two other times.  It tickled me to death to watch him and get to photograph him!

Patient Endurance

"Patient Endurance"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Cormorants are not my favorite bird to photography because they aren't very pretty, but the pickings were slim this particular morning.  I used my usual tactic of shooting then moving closer, then repeat until the bird gets uncomfortable and flies away.  I think he showed more patient endurance than me because he never flew away!

When I was out shooting Easter weekend, I came upon these flowers and thought of Easter and the trinity. Three flowers representing.....The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.....He is risen!

Sunset Silhouette

"Sunset Silhouette"

I went down to the docks on St. Simons Island, Georgia with my husband to get some sunset shots.  I had my husband come with me to carry my bag because I just threw out my back a few days earlier.  My back wasn't really well enough to photograph.  I could not do a lot of things, like get down low to the ground.

It was killing me to be at a wonderful place to photograph and for two days not be able to shoot.  So, out I went with my husband to see what I could physically be able to shoot.  What I ended up with was not what I envisioned, but I am satisfied nonetheless.

When we first got there, the pelicans were everywhere!  I had less than an hour till sunset, and most of the time I photographed the pelicans.  This particular set of pylons usually had a pelican on it, so I shot there for awhile.  Once the sunset, I noticed the beautiful clouds had pink in them.  I knew the perfect shot would be to go back to this pylon.

When I got there, a pelican was there but flew off.  I set up my tripod and waited.  The pelican came back, but the pink in the clouds had disappeared.  This is basically the shot I captured.  I added a tiny bit of a richer blue to the sky.  I'm happy!
