Find a photographer and usually they can tell you a lot of stories behind taking their photos.  I will always remember the story behind this photo.  To you it is just a photo, but you weren't there experiencing the weather, circumstances, or what I had to go through to get the shot.

I felt impressed for some reason to sit on a tree over the river.  I quickly dismissed the "silly" thought.  I wasn't going to get great photos of birds on this tree.  I continued on my journey, but the birds were hiding from me! Then I thought maybe I was "supposed" to take photos on the tree.

When I went back to the tree, a couple was sitting one it, so I continued walking.  I prayed and told the Lord He was a God of second chances, and if He wanted me to take pictures on the tree I would.  I went back again, and no one was there, so I ventured carefully out on the tree.  I didn't want to fall in the river with my camera. 

I ended up taking a picture of a much larger bird; his name is Phillip, and he is a college student at UGA.  He climbed out on the tree next to me which was high over the river.  He wanted me to send him a photo of himself sitting on the tree.  I did just that and have not heard back from him. 

I don't know the reason I met Phillip that day, but I knew that is the reason why the Lord impressed me to take photos on that tree.  The day I posted my ALS blog, I asked my readers if they had asked the Lord into their hearts as their personal Lord and Savior.  That was the day I met Phillip and told him about my blogs.  He could have met Christ that day, missed being in a car accident, or may other scenarios.

The key is I did what I felt the Lord asked me to.  What is the Lord asking you to do that could be as simple as "taking pictures on a tree?"  It could have a life changing impact on someone.  Hey Phillip, if you are reading this!

Robin left a comment on my blog letting me know about the bird banding program by the United States Geological Survey.  She let me know if I had the exact number of 1048, it should be reported at http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/bbl/  She told me it helps them understand bird patterns, and they would give me a nice certificate for helping!
I did not know the full tag number, so I looked at all my pics and found this one with the last digits I needed!  I went to the website, typed in the info and found out "It's A Girl!"  Here is the info they sent me:
Band Number: 1048-37449
Species: CANADA GOOSE
Date banded: 06/18/2009
Banding Location: 5 SW FT VALLEY, PEACH COUNTY, GEORGIA, USA
Age: HATCHED IN 2008 OR EARLIER
Sex: FEMALE

So her "real name" is 1048-37449.  Thanks Robin for helping me learn something new:)

I watched 1048 for quite some time because I enjoyed taking photos of him.  He wanted his tag off!  This was the best photo, but I could have posted tons of photos of 1048 trying to "Get It Off!"

I thought this would be a good shot, and it turned out better than I expected.  I have several photos to show you this week of this guy; we can call him 1048 (even though he had some others numbers on his tag).  This photo would have been perfect to post on the International Animal Rights Day, but December 10th was too long for me to wait!!

I enjoyed watching the baby swans (cygnets) on the shore of the lake one morning. It did not take long for them to get in the water. Mommie.....wait for us!!

It hardly ever snows in Athens, Georgia, so I have very few photos taken during the winter!    I had to get this photo made from a negative!   The birds were thankful to have food!!

Fear Not!

Even though this photo is out of focus.....I love it!  It looks like an abstract painting to me. The title that came to my mind was "Fear Not!" Things in life may seem uncertain. You may not know what tomorrow brings, but I will fear not because the Lord is with me. He will take care of me, and the circumstances I am going through. Trust me, I am preaching to the choir!
