I watched 1048 for quite some time because I enjoyed taking photos of him. He wanted his tag off! This was the best photo, but I could have posted tons of photos of 1048 trying to "Get It Off!"

Chyba mu się nie podoba ta obrączka. Woli być wolnym ptakiem. Pozdrawiam. *** I guess he does not like this ring. Will be a free bird. Yours.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a great shot - the kind that makes you say, "Yes!!" when you get it!
ReplyDeleteI see this shot of 1048 and feel compassion ....though man wants to learn of these creatures....the touch of man seems to always bring a sense of "taint" to the creature...... Poor baby ....I agree with what Glenda commented, YES! when he gets it off if he does!
ReplyDeleteNice series of photos. What a ashame the ring is needed (?) and that it bothers him so.
ReplyDeleteIf you have the exact numbers, the ringed birds should be reported at http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/bbl/ It helps them understand bird patterns. They give you a nice certificate for helping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments:) Robin, I did not know about reporting the birds, so I did so tonight. I did not know the full tag numbers until I pieced the photos together. I learned the goose was a female, and she was tagged two years ago! Thanks for the info. Her full tag number is 1048-37449.
