“Pounce”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography
My family gives me a hard time about talking to people while out shooting, but I’m an extrovert and people have all sorts of good information. While in Cades Cove, we stopped and talked to my favorite park volunteer Nancy a.k.a bear jam manager.
Someone mentioned a coyote was walking towards the field where we were standing. My conversation abruptly stopped when someone spotted the coyote.
He was parallel to me in the field. I always like to shoot with my subject having room to walk into the frame. When he was getting too far in front of me, I would run parallel again until I was shooting towards him. It was sort of a cat and mouse game, but it worked.
He ended up catching a vole or some sort of small critter—ate it then went back to hunting.
