Cooper’s Hawk – eyas

I saw the Cooper’s hawk building this nest a while ago, so I decided to photograph it the last few times I was at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.

The eyas (a.k.a baby hawks) were very active. I thought one was going to fledge, but after a closer look, I still see a lot of pin feathers.

It is amazing when wildlife comes this close to you while in Cades Cove. This buck was photographed from my car while driving on the main loop. I could barely fit him into my frame.

 Black bear cubs in Cades Cove, Tennessee

My husband and I took our first trip to Cades Cove in Tennessee for a few days. There is an 11-mile road through the park and two side road you can travel on to see all kinds of wildlife. But, the big reason everyone goes is to see the black bear.

The bears cause quite a havoc as they live their daily lives roaming around which sometimes happens to be right in front of cars. A bear jam is not something you eat; it’s tons of cars pulled off the side of the road to see the bear.

We were there for three days and only had one day of good bear sightings. We hiked in the woods to see what we could find one day and as we were getting into our car, an older lady told as there was a bear off the road to the left. I am thankful she told us where one was.

This is two of Momma bear Hazel's cubs. She is the mom of four adorable cubs!

Ma Hazel, enjoyed a brief afternoon nap with her four cubs when I saw her while walking in the woods. She took three cubs to forage and left one snoozing under a tree. 

The cub woke up, noticed his family was missing, so he scooted up the tree and let out a cry. Hazel came letting him know everything was all right.

I love the bark falling on her as her little one scampered down.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is my second home. There are so many beautiful things to photograph there.

In the gardens, my favorite thing to photograph besides the flowers are the hummingbirds. I helped create the Hummingbird Trail for the Garden and spend a lot of time photographing them.

Inside the Conservatory, I love to photograph the orchids. I envisioned the shot I wanted—the orchid with the blue lights in the background. The only problem is the orchid was not in the right location for that shot. Thanks to a sweet worker who made it happen for me!

Satan disguises himself in many ways, but the bottom line—he is there to steal, kill, and destroy. He may make things around us seem normal and innocent when in reality they aren’t good and drag us in the wrong direction.

The duckweed in this swamp is disguising the alligator, just like Satan, the father of lies will dress himself in sheep’s clothing to look like one of us and bring deception. He will tear us apart in a second!

But, we know the Lord has already defeated Satan! Let’s ask the Lord to open our eyes and show us Himself. The Lord brings abundant life!
