Gone are the Sunflowers

“Gone are the Sunflowers”

Gone are the sunflowers that brightened the fields of summer—fall is here. Fall brings a new kind of beauty with its brilliant reds, oranges and yellows.

Fading Beauty

“Fading Beauty”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

When I am out shooting, sometimes the subject jumps out at me, and I know I need to photograph it. Other times, I have to search and search for the perfect shot.

This flower was one of those subjects that shouted for me to take its photograph. There wasn’t anything striking about it. It’s fading beauty still shone through. I just needed to put it against the perfect background.

I typically do not center my photographs, but this is one of those moments that worked, so I broke the rules. What emotions does it evoke in you?

Tap Dancing on Sunflowers

Immature male ruby-throated hummingbird

Some flowers were going to be discarded from the place I volunteered at this weekend, so I took them home and made magic. I placed a small hand hummingbird feeder in the flower and played with my hummingbirds.

To No Surprise

"To No Surprise"
Song sparrow on sunflower

The Lord knows my favorite bird sound comes from the song sparrow. So, it was no surprise to find one on top of the sunflowers singing his little heart out. Gotta love those God moments!
