Mallard duck on Swan Lake
While photographing at Swan Lake in Sumter, South
Carolina, I came across this female duck. When I originally found her, she was
resting on the shore in the brush.
For whatever reason, I could tell she was
distressed and not happy with my presence. She would open her mouth repeatedly
and stare at me. I did not see a nest and tried to not disturb her.
Since I did not have a turkey photograph I liked
to post for Thanksgiving, I decided to post her beautiful face. I thought the
photograph without her mouth opened looked better.
