“Busking”
Judy Royal Glenn Photography
Little did I know that I was
intruding on this swan’s territory while standing on the bank of Swan Lake at
Berry College. It is Berry College’s territory after all. Tell that to this
swan and he will have a different opinion.
This gesturing is called "busking" and is part of
the beginning of a mute swan’s threat posture. It can escalate into wing
flapping and the swan tucking its long neck into its lifted feathers for
protection as it charges towards the intruder.
I was there to photograph
him, not to ruffle his feathers!
Location: Berry College – Rome, Georgia
This is gorgeous! We only have Black Swans here.
