Worn

Silvery Checkerspot Butterfly

This silvery checkerspot butterfly was tattered and worn. That particular day—so was I.

I went to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia to get away. The garden is my place of refuge.

The scripture Romans 8:28 rang true once again. “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

Looking back, the hardship was all part of the process of getting me where I needed to be. If you are going through a trial, hold on tight to the one who has everything in control.

The song "Worn" by Tenth Avenue North ministered to me greatly during that time.

Wintry Miracles

Frost Flowers
Frost flowers aren’t real flowers at all. They form when air temperatures fall below freezing, but the water in the ground is not frozen. The water/sap in the plant pushes out at the stem’s base forming beautiful ribbons of ice. These amazing sculptures do not grow on all plants, which add to the rarity of finding them because the weather conditions have to be perfect too.

The Lord’s creations never cease to amaze me. His miracles are abundant if we look for them.

You can view other photos of frost flowers in posts I have written here, here, and here.

Other words I have found for frost flowers are: ice ribbons, ice flowers and crystallofolia.

Have you had the privilege to see these wintry miracles?

Constant Motion

Anna Ruby Falls

"Constant Motion"

Waterfalls are beautiful, and are in a constant state of motion. I am glad we have them to admire!

Sometimes the earth is in drought and not much water flows, and at times we have abundant water. Our spiritual lives can be that way too. Stay close to God and draw on His strength.

"Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world." James 4:8

Keeping Watch

Tree Swallow

A loan birdhouse hung from a large tree as a male tree swallow kept watch to keep away intruders. The birdhouse was prime real estate—the male bird knew it.

Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly

I love the array of the beautiful creations the Lord made for us to see and photograph. This stunning creature is the pipevine swallowtail butterfly. I photographed it in September and think this may have been a first for me. They are beautiful!

Winter is a quieter time with my photography, as I do not shoot as often. These warm temperatures make me look forward to spring!

Favorite Critter

It won't be long before my favorite critter to photograph, the ruby-throated hummingbird, comes back to Georgia. I miss them so much and anticipate their return each year! It gives me something to look forward to as I do not like winter.

This photo was taken at Chamizal National Memorial Park in El Paso, Texas as I was visiting my daughter. The plant is the Texas Red Yucca.

I love Texas because they have tons of species of hummingbirds!
