My Birthday Angel

"My Birthday Angel"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Today is my birthday, so I wanted to get out of the house and go shoot at one of my favorite places, Little Mulberry Park in Dacula, Georgia.

I again asked the Lord to help me photograph what He wanted me to photograph and  bring to me what he wanted me to photograph.  I was photographing two male Mallard ducks at the lake.  I did not know this one was going to fly and after I took a few photographs, I knew I got a few shots.

When I looked in the back of my camera, I thought the photograph was neat.  I photographed my birthday angel.  No, this is not photoshopped.  I don't even own Photoshop!  I just love the Lord's sense of humor!

I am guessing I caught this little guy finishing off a sunflower seed from my feeder.  When I looked out my window, there he was.  I ran to get my camera, and when I opened the front door, he did not move.

Waiting My Turn

My bird feeder was a very popular place when it snowed.  The cardinals would flutter at the feeder once in a while, but they enjoyed the seed that I spread on the ground the most.

"Hiding?"

"Hiding?"

I love the innate characteristics the Lord gives certain animals.  Whether or not this is the technically correct wording, I love how chipmunks will sometimes freeze when they see someone coming.  This is great for my photography.

I went to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia Wednesday hoping I would find chipmunks in their usual spots.  This chipmunk did not want to disappoint.

As I was walking down the sidewalk, I started slowing down because I have spotted them in this area before.  I saw him and froze, and he saw me and did the same.  I set up my tripod and camera and slowly inched closer and closer until I got the shot I wanted.  Do they think they are hiding, or freeze as not to draw attention to themselves?  I don't know do you?

A Welcomed Visitor

I can't remember if I have had an Eastern Towhee visit my front yard, but I was very excited when I found one after it snowed!

Cold Feet

Before the snow actually came to Athens, Georgia, we had tons of freezing rain and sleet.  The icy branches don't make for as pretty of a shot, but I like the effect nonetheless.

A Watchful Eye

"A Watchful Eye"

It doesn't snow in Athens, Georgia very often.  I wanted to photograph the contrast of the Cardinal against the snow.  I did not realize how skiddish Cardinals were until I was intently trying to photograph them from a close distance.  He was keeping a watchful eye on me.

I love photographing nature at eye level, so I got a blanket and laid down on my belly.  Fortunately, I was on my front porch and not in the snow!

Frozen Rain

Athens, Georgia was hit with an ice storm, so I ventured out of my warm home to photograph the beauty outside.  I love the frozen rain in the middle of the pine cone.

A Clever Creature

Today, as I was going through my photographs, I stopped and studied this hummingbird.  I looked where his beak was and quickly figured out what he was doing.  He was getting the nectar from the base of the flower.
