Lighthouse Decoration

"Lighthouse Decoration"
Judy Royal Glenn Photography

I found this Brown Pelican at the St. Simons Island Pier thanks to my dad.  He took a photograph of the pelicans at the pier and sent it to me.  When I went out for the day, I knew where to stop first.  I did not mind that the pelican helped decorate the lighthouse for me:)

Location: St. Simons Island, Georgia

  1. When we lived on the Gulf Coast, there was a restaurant out on a pier. We used to sit and watch the pelicans dive bomb the water and come up with a pouch full of water and, hopefully, a fish or two.
I hope to see you at Blue Ridge!

  2. They are fun to watch. This pelican had another "friend" it hung out with that had a band on its leg. I took enough photos of its ankle and sent the numbers to The North American Bird Banding Program. I found out it was hatched in 2001 and it was released in Miami. I'll write about it another day:)
